Integrate Eduframe with any LMS
Eduframe is the system of record for your training business: it holds your course catalog, the editions you plan, the participants who enroll and the orders that pay for them. Your learning management system (LMS), whether that is Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace, Open edX or a home-grown platform, is where the actual learning happens.
This guide shows you how to connect the two so that nobody types the same data twice:
- Courses and editions planned in Eduframe appear as courses in your LMS.
- Participants and teachers exist in your LMS as soon as they are needed, with the right role.
- Enrollments confirmed in Eduframe give learners access to the right LMS course, and cancellations take it away again.
- Learners find their course. The LMS course link is stored on the Eduframe edition, so learners can open it from the participant portal.
- Grades flow back from the LMS into the Eduframe enrollment. Marking the enrollment as passed stays an administrator action in Eduframe, which can then award certificates and credits.
Everything in this guide is built on the public Eduframe Admin API and webhooks. There is no proprietary connector to install and nothing you need from Drieam beyond an API key and the right feature flags.
Eduframe ships a native Canvas integration and supports Brightspace. If that is your LMS you do not need to build anything, read Canvas LMS - integration instead. This guide is for every other LMS, and for teams that want full control over how the sync behaves.
How the integration works
Eduframe stays the source of truth. A small piece of middleware, which you own and host, listens to Eduframe webhooks, fetches the changed record through the Admin API and mirrors it into your LMS using the LMS's own API. The same middleware writes the LMS course link back to Eduframe and pushes grades when a learner finishes.
The recommended shape is covered in Architecture.
What you need
- Admin access to an Eduframe environment and the ability to create a dedicated API key.
- An LMS with an API that can create courses, users and enrollments. Every mainstream LMS has one (Moodle web services, Blackboard Learn REST API, Canvas REST API, Brightspace Valence, Open edX APIs).
- Somewhere to run a small HTTPS service that can receive webhooks. A serverless function, a container or an existing integration platform all work.
What next?
Follow the pages in order. Each sync guide lists the API endpoints, fields and webhook events you need.
Data model
How Eduframe models courses, editions, users and enrollments, and how they map onto your LMS.
Decisions
Which courses and users to sync, template handling and where courses live in the LMS hierarchy.
Prerequisites
Service user, API key and scopes, webhook endpoint, feature flags and external IDs.
Architecture
Webhook-driven middleware that fetches records from the Admin API and upserts them into the LMS.
Sync courses
Create and update an LMS course per course edition.
Sync users
Create participants in the LMS on demand and handle merged users.
Sync enrollments
Give participants access to the right LMS course and take it away again.
Flexible courses
Self-paced editions where every enrollment has its own access window.
Sync teachers (optional)
Give teachers a teaching role in their LMS course, including teachers on meetings.
Link course content
Show the LMS course link in the participant portal.
Send grades
Send the final grade from your LMS to the Eduframe enrollment.
